“We love local artisan of the world. Our passion is to curate the art of the world to design inspiring spaces.”

— Shar & Laya, Co-founders

A life time of travel inspiration & friendship…

Laya and Sharzad, co-founders of Bohoing, met in Iran when they were only 7 years old. From elementary school to high school, they grew up together in adventurous families who familiarized them with diversity of art and culture through many road trips and travels that intrigued their curiosity for a future full of travels.

“Years later, in 2013 we crossed paths again in a journey that became an inflection point in both of our lives. We traveled to Oaxaca, Mexico. Oaxaca city’s artisan was an inspiration that awakened our sense of awe. Puerto Escondido’s people and travelers from around the world opened our heart to the oneness of our souls that is beyond nationalities and beliefs. After this trip, we began traveling nomadically with an intention of learning about local life and artisan. Anywhere we stepped into, we noticed & curated the art that was not usually seen by regular tourists. In November 2019, we officially began creating packages for our bohemian decorations. Each is inspired by a different culture of the world. Initially, we were taking photos of our favorite pieces & artists to share with friends on instagram. Sometimes we brought them back home as souvenirs.  Then gradually it became an obsession to decorate spaces that are influenced by cultures around the world. Our decorations looked bohemian with Pieces and colors from our travels. Later, we not only curated our favorite designs from our travels but also our personal experiences, rituals and artists and showcased them in events. From a nomadic trip to Bali to a weekend stay with elders of Native American communities in New Mexico, we learned and shared altars, created bohemian outdoor spaces and staged experiences in Los Angeles. Our travels became an opportunity for introducing the art of small communities of the world to the larger global community.”
